Polovtsians, 12th century. Material: soft coarse-grained sandstone. Found in 1983 in the village of Landari, Dykanka District, Poltava Region, Ukrainian SSR. The statue depicts a human head with Mongoloid facial features. Gender is undetermined. The head is carved from a monolith, with the neck and shoulders outlined. The eyebrows and nose are carved in the shape of the letter âTâ. All details are embossed. The surface is weathered, the reverse side is damaged.
